"His sixty years of creativity have now been distilled into the most concentrated and perhaps the most challenging art form: abstract painting.”
–Jeffrey Deitch
M aka MICHAEL CHOW
In 2013 I got a call from a Mr Chow asking about photography and I was wondering if he was shopping for a food photographer. When I met with him in his studio I was amazed to meet a very, very prolific experimental abstract mixed media painter who grilled me relentlessly about how I might approach shooting his work should he choose to hire me. I explained my approach to analyzing and designing lighting and composition, emphasizing my devotion the artist and rendering their work in such a way that I “tell the story” of the artwork. I am delighted to report that I have a very close ongoing working relationship with this remarkable artist whose work continues to evolve in spectacularly dazzling ways. He’s become a cherished friend and I am honored that he chose me after the grilling in 2013.
